Alexander Kerfoot made his return to Colorado with a big bang, and he might be missing some games because of it.

During Saturday game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Avalanche, Kerfoot sent ex-teammate Erik Johnson head-first into the boards.

A boarding minor penalty was called on the play, but according to TSN’s Darren Dreger, that was not enough as Kerfoot will have a hearing with the NHL’s Department of Player Safety on Monday.

All we know is that lesser hits have been deemed worthy of a suspension by the DPoS.

In his three years of being on an NHL roster, Kerfoot has not been suspended before and certainly does not carry that reputation around with him.

The 25-year-old forward has only 16 hits through his 22 games played this season — one of them just happened to earn him a call from the league.

Kerfoot returned from a facial fracture on Nov. 21, but the Leafs might be without him again, depending on how the hearing goes. In 22 games, Kerfoot has five goals and eight points.
