Torino reportedly met with Chelsea and Cesare Casadei’s entourage today, hoping their offer of €9m plus bonuses and 40 per cent of the sell-on fee can be enough to beat Lazio.

The Italy Under-21 international was a product of the Inter youth academy and made the €14.86m transfer to Chelsea in the summer of 2022, along with €5m in add-ons.

He went on loan to Reading FC and Leicester City, but has struggled for playing time and now seems ready to leave Stamford Bridge on a permanent basis.

It has been largely a battle between Serie A sides Torino and Lazio so far in the January transfer window, although AS Monaco are also interested.

According to Sky Sport Italia transfer pundit Gianluca Di Marzio, Toro director Davide Vagnati was in London today for a meeting with both Chelsea and Casadei’s brother.

The improved proposal is worth €9m plus bonuses and crucially Chelsea would receive a 40 per cent cut of the sell-on fee.

It remains to be seen if that is enough to convince both the club and player, especially as on Thursday Sportitalia expert Alfredo Pedullà assured that Casadei would lean towards Lazio for the next step in his career.
