Sharks training camp has been reduced from three groups to two groups after the first round of cuts on Monday. Head coach Ryan Warsofsky has kept some lines partly together, but Musty looks like he could get an opportunity with some of the Sharks' best players.

Celebrini and Tyler Toffoli have been on a line throughout training camp, with Klim Kostin as the left wing. Kostin and Musty skated in the first group, yet Musty took his spot.

Kostin slides over to the other expected top line with William Eklund and Mikael Granlund, pushing Collin Graf out.

Musty was with Nico Sturm and Ty Dellandrea during the team's first preseason game against the Golden Knights. The 2023 first-round pick played 14:26 and was on the second powerplay unit.

A spot in the NHL might've opened up for someone with Thomas Bordeleau's injury ruling him out week-to-week. Bordeleau wasn't a lock to make the NHL roster, but given his potential to miss the start of the season, Musty could earn a nine-game tryout.

The Sharks' next preseason game is tomorrow in Anaheim against the Ducks. The game group hasn't been released, but Musty could be getting his best opportunity to prove why he deserves to stay in the NHL.
