Unsurprisingly, only one Manchester United player has been named in BBC Sport’s Team of the Week.

The stalemate at Selhurst Park left a sour taste for the travelling Reds in attendance, as the side frequently looked as though they’d be comfortable settling for a point despite the game being there for the taking.

Yet, the spoils were ultimately shared upon the full-time whistle, with United recording their first draw of the campaign and, in turn, finishing the gameweek in 11th place on only seven points.

One positive from the night’s affairs was that Andre Onana and the backline earned another hard-fought clean sheet. It’s their third of the season thus far, leaving Onana level with last season’s Golden Glove winner, David Raya.

The Cameroonian had a direct role to play in it, too; in the 64th minute, Onana got his hand to a powerful strike from Eddie Nketiah on the edge of the box, before somehow recovering quick enough to deny Ismaila Sarr on the follow-up a split second later.

Such heroics saw him quickly surrounded by his teammates to be praised – and thanked – for his efforts, and there’s no doubt he’d have had a pat on the back from his manager in the dressing room upon the culmination of the clash.

Onana hailed for goal-denying heroics

Therefore, Onana is the only Red to have made this week’s Team of the Week, chosen by Troy Deeney. When explaining his picks, he said of the shot-stopper: “He made an excellent double save, which I thought was miles better than David Raya’s in the Champions League. Onana is under pressure at Manchester United, but he kept them in a game [that] they probably should have gone on to win. He was top drawer.”
