Tom Wilson reveals who had the best Stanley Cup party

Lord Stanley was taken on quite a journey this summer as the Washington Capitals celebrated their first title in franchise history.

Tom Wilson did his part by renting out his hometown rink for his day and celebrating with friends and family, but admits that he wasn’t the one that threw the best bash with the trophy.

That honour, he says, belongs to Dmitry Orlov.

“You definitely stay in touch more with guys this off-season,” Wilson said, explaining that the entire team was keeping tabs on the Stanley Cup’s travels.

“(Orlov’s) flamethrowers were pretty crazy — I didn’t even know where he was. But it’s been fun to watch your teammates and for me, that was kind of the most special part of winning. Watching your teammates lift the Cup and taking it all in, watching them on their days makes it a pretty entertaining offseason for sure.”

Teammate Devante Smith-Pelly backed Wilson’s claim by giving Orlov an ‘A+’ grade for his fiery shindig.

It is hard to argue with Wilson’s pick. The Capitals celebrated by filling the chalice with caviar and wearing their favourite pair of lederhosen, but bringing a flamethrower to a party is the ultimate trump card.
