Todd Gurley left many fantasy players and bettors hurting after opting not to score sure TD
Todd Gurley has been everything to fantasy players lucky enough to draft him in leagues this season, but he admittedly broke some hearts on Sunday despite his latest great performance.
With the Los Angeles Rams leading 29-27 late and trying to run out the clock against the Green Bay Packers, Gurley broke free on a run and had an easy path to the end zone. Instead of scoring, he did the smart thing. He pulled up and allowed himself to be tackled short of the goal line with less than a minute to go. The Rams took a knee for the win and Aaron Rodgers never got the ball back.
Gut-wrenching or exhilarating depending on what side of the play you landed on in the fantasy/betting communities.
Cost me 1st in a daily for a nice chunk. Lost 150-149.94

Now, Gurley had another fantastic fantasy performance: 25 carries for 114 yards, six catches for 81 yards. One touchdown and a two-point conversion. It’s the fourth straight game he’s scored at least 30 fantasy points. Can’t really complain about a line like that:
He still gave me 33.5 points

In fact, Gurley could conceivably reach — or break — LaDainian Tomlinson’s record for total touchdowns in a season (31). He now has 15 through eight games. That said, you also wouldn’t say no to another touchdown — especially when one fantasy score can be the difference between a win and a loss.
Gurley didn’t just cause a quake in the fantasy world. He also impacted the betting community. His decision not to score crushed bettors who picked the Rams to cover the spread (which stood around -7.5):
Every one who had Rams -7.5

It also ended the hopes of bettors who went with the Over — a total of 57 (the game ended with 56 points):
200 bucks lighter cause of that 😫

This isn’t the first time this has happened by any stretch. Maurice Jones-Drew once apologized to fantasy players for doing exactly what Gurley did. Brian Westbrook crushed hopes too, and in the fantasy playoffs, no less:
Not as bad as when Brian Westbrook cost me my playoff win when he did it!

Devastating — at least, for some. Others felt pretty good about Gurley’s actions:
I won by 1 point because he decided to stop!!!

In the end, the man himself had his own thoughts about his late-game choice:
Todd Gurley, on stopping short of goal line to secure the win and run out the clock: “Man, forget fantasy and forget Vegas. We got the win, so that’s all that matters.”
