Titans request to interview Bears' Ian Cunningham for general manager

As the Chicago Bears conduct a search for their next head coach, assistant general manager Ian Cunningham is also interviewing for GM jobs -- and he has his first of this cycle.

According to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, the Tennessee Titans put in a request to interview Cunningham for their general manager job.

Cunningham, who has been with the Bears since 2022, has interviewed for vacant GM jobs in the last two offseasons, where he was most recently passed over for the Washington Commanders Head of Football Ops job, which went to Adam Peters, in 2024. He was a finalist for the Tennessee Titans job, which went to Ran Carthon who was just fired, and reportedly turned down the Arizona Cardinals job back in 2023.

If Cunningham departed for a GM job, the Bears would get two third-round picks over the next two NFL drafts. But they would also be losing an important part of their front office and Ryan Poles' right-hand man, who has been a calming presence for Chicago's general manager.

"I am blessed out of my socks to have him by my side that is not a yes man," Poles said of Cunningham last year. "We would not be where we are today without Ian being an incredible partner."
