‘The timing is great’ – Sean Dyche shares when 23y/o Everton ace will finally return to full training
Everton are missing a few players due to injuries, and the international break could not have come at a better time.
The Toffees will face West Ham at the London Stadium on Saturday (9 November) in the Premier League, where they will be looking to return to winning ways.
Everton lost 1-0 against Southampton at St Mary’s in their previous league game, and they have a brilliant opportunity to bring back the positive feeling ahead of the international break with a win against the struggling Hammers.
Abdoulaye Doucoure and Iliman Ndiaye are fully fit once again, and they are likely to feature against West Ham.
Everton fans will be ecstatic to hear that Armando Broja is not too far away from making his debut for the Toffees.
The 23-year-old striker, who joined on loan from Chelsea in the summer, has yet to play a game for Everton due to a foot injury. He has now joined parts in training this week but is still not in any physical condition to play a Premier League game.
What Dyche has said about Armando Broja recovery
Dyche has said that he hopes Broja will return to full training after the international break, which means he should be able to train properly before the end of this month. And if everything goes well, he can make his debut for the Toffees in December.
He said: “[He has been involved in training] in parts – he has basically been a floater and that’s it, just to get a feel of the ball, and nothing other than that at this stage.
“It gives him a chance to get to know the players because he came in injured, which everyone knew, and he’s been working really well – putting a lot into his recovery with the sport science team – but just to give him a chance to be around the players on the pitch.
“The timing is great in terms of he’s getting there but, obviously, with the international break it’s difficult because everyone disperses again. But he is going to need a games programme, definitely.
“We’re getting him to the point of training – he’s not there yet but next week we’re hoping he’ll be looking more likely. When everyone comes back in [from the international break], he will be in full training.”
Everton fans will be delighted with the latest update
It will not be fair to expect Broja to deliver straightaway after coming from a long injury lay-off, but he will definitely add more quality to the side from the bench.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has only managed two goals in the Premier League this season, and many feel that Beto should be starting regularly ahead of him.
Broja will be looking to make up for the lost time with significant contributions, and he can play a big role for the Toffees.
The Armenian striker is a natural finisher, and Everton will be a joy to watch if he can forge a great partnership with Ndiaye.
