Time for MLB to revert back to classic All-Star Game uniforms? Why they are thinking about it.

Fans took to social media Tuesday to savage MLB over the uniforms for this year’s All-Star Game at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

Players used to wear their individual team jerseys. However, that changed in 2021 when MLB partnered with Nike to make uniforms specifically for the All-Star Game.

This year’s uniforms feature the National League team in navy with blue sleeves and lettering while the American League team is in a sandy beige with red sleeves and lettering.

“MLB had to work really hard to make me miss the Great Britain jerseys from world baseball classic,” said X-user @Bdaubach.

Another X-user commented that the uniforms looked like ones that would be used in a video game that didn’t have official licensing from MLB.

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred told the Baseball Writers’ Association of America on Tuesday he’s aware of the push back against the All-Star Game Uniforms.

There will need to be conversations with players and with Nike about what to do with the uniforms after this year’s All-Star Game, Manfred said.

“I am aware of the sentiment, and I do know why people kind of like that tradition,” he said.
