Thuram and Barella joke around, but insist 4-0 ‘not a signal’ from Inter
Marcus Thuram and Nicolò Barella joked about their goals as Inter demolished Atalanta 4-0 this evening, but insisted it was ‘not a signal’ to the rest of Serie A.
The France international came so close to a hat-trick this evening, but the first goal went in off a clear deflection from Berat Djimsiti that wrong-footed Marco Carnesecchi, so as it was not initially on target, it could not be credited to him.
He did take the other two, both sharp reactions to toe-poke loose balls into the net from close range, while Nicolò Barella scored with a sensational volley from the edge of the box.
When Thuram was presented with the Man of the Match Award by the Lega Serie A, Barella jokingly threw his towel over it.
Thuram and Barella good friends at Inter
“I watched Bare on YouTube and tried to copy him!” joked Thuram on DAZN.
“It is only Week 3, this is not a signal to anyone. We tried to put in a good performance against a very difficult opponent, so we are very happy.”
Thuram scored twice, but Barella got the contender for Goal of the Season with his left-foot volley.
“Bare only scores spectacular goals! He does it in training all the time and I’m really happy for him.”
Barella also spoke to DAZN and they joked about their goal celebration of barging shoulders, while the midfielder explained why he often tries to get those strikes.
“This game might’ve seemed easy from the outside, but there are always risks and the intensity was really high. When you stay on the edge of the box to wait for corners, you have to try. It was a difficult shot, but it worked this time and I’m happy.”
