Three Midlands teams playing for state titles. Complete tennis, volleyball schedule

Two Midlands girls tennis teams and one girls volleyball team will play for state championships on Saturday.

River Bluff and AC Flora tennis teams won their state semifinal matchups Tuesday afternoon while North Central withstood five sets to advance to the volleyball championship.

River Bluff defeated Spartanburg, 4-2, to advance to the Class 5A Division I girls tennis state championship. The Gators will face Wando for the title at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Cayce Tennis Center.

It is the Gators’ third title appearance. River Bluff won titles in 2017 and 2019.

AC Flora advances to the Class 4A championship with a win over Daniel. The Falcons will face Bishop England at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Cayce Tennis Center.

It is the Falcons’ sixth state title appearance and first since 2021. Bishop England has a state-record 26 state titles.

It took North Central five sets to win the Class 2A Lower State championship. The Knights defeated Philip Simmons (25-17, 25-27, 16-25, 25-14, 15-6) and will face Ninety Six for the title at noon Saturday at Dreher High School.

It is the Knights’ second title appearance, the other coming in 2021.

Two other area volleyball teams lost in their bids for state titles.

Pickens defeated Camden, 3-0, in the Class 4A Upper State championship while Lexington lost to Dorman, 3-0, in the 5A Division I Upper State championship Monday.

Class 2A: Academic Magnet/Philip Simons vs. Landrum/Saluda/Whitmire, noon

Class 5A Division I: River Bluff vs. Wando, 1 p.m.

Class 5A Division II: Lucy Beckham vs. TL Hanna, 1 p.m.

Location: Dreher High School

Tickets: $10 for Thursday night and $15 for Saturday. Children 5-under admitted free.

Saturday

Class 4A: May River vs. Pickens, 10 a.m.

Class 2A: North Central vs. Ninety-Six, noon

Class 3A: Powdersville vs. Oceanside Collegiate, 2:30 p.m.
