Thomas Brown on Caleb Williams: 'Shooters shoot, he definitely shoots'
Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams' rookie season has seen him set franchise and NFL records. But the most disappointing stat of the year has been four total wins. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft, Williams was brought to Chicago to hopefully become the answer to a decades long search for a long-term franchise quarterback.
One of the lone bright spots during the course of the nine-game losing streak for Chicago, has been the fact hat Williams has not thrown an interception in any of the nine consecutive games that they've lost. Coming into Thursday night's Week 17 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, Williams has gone 326 passing attempts without throwing an interception, which is a NFL record for rookies, and is not far behind Aaron Rodgers' 402 attempts that is atop the NFL record books.
When asked about Williams continuing to rip the ball around the field, interim head coach Thomas Brown praised the young rookie, calling him a shooter that shoots, and he wants to give him the opportunity to make big plays in the passing game.
"Shooters shoot, he definitely shoots, which I appreciate, we'll continue to give him opportunities to shoot," Brown said of Williams. "Being able to understand the rhythm and timing for how plays develop, but also just taking the extra effort to go through a couple different plays from a practice standpoint. There's always going to be some carryover. The more things we have time on task with, the better execution you have."

There have been several encouraging signs for Williams in a rookie season that hasn't produced the team success that all sides were hoping for. Seeing the talent and potential he's shown in different times this season, the development of Williams, and pairing him with the right coach, will be crucial for the foreseeable future.
