When do the third College Football Playoffs rankings come out? Date, time, more
The 2024 college football season is notable primarily due to the expansion of the College Football Playoff format, which has grown from four to 12 teams, broadening the competition for the national title. The CFP selection committee is hours away from releasing the third set of rankings, showing where teams stand in their pursuit of the title.
The second set of rankings reiterated that every game is crucial, and as the season approaches its conclusion, losses can hurt a team's College Football Playoff aspirations. For the second consecutive ranking, the Big Ten stood out, with Oregon claiming the top position again, with Ohio State at No. 2 and Penn State No. 4. Texas leads the SEC and secured the No. 3 position in the rankings.
However, because champions of the Power Four conferences automatically get the top four seeds, the rankings do not necessarily reflect the bracket, which would boost Texas to the No. 2 seed, BYU (No. 6 in the rankings) to the No. 3 seed from the Big 12 and Miami (No. 9 in the rankings) to the No. 4 seed from the ACC. Oregon as projected champion of the Big Ten would retain the top seed.
However, each week of action can significantly shake up the standings. Here’s how to watch the College Football rankings show after Week 12 of college football action:
