“I think that depends a lot on me” – Chelsea star of the future opens up on his ambitious targets
Future Chelsea star Estevao Willian has revealed his ambitions which include going to the 2026 World Cup with Brazil as well as other lofty targets.
The Blues agreed a deal with Palmeiras for the 17-year-old this summer which could be worth up to a reported £51m and he will join up with his new team-mates next summer.
The signing of Estevao is Chelsea’s most expensive from South America and continues their heavy recruitment drive in the continent following the takeover by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital back in 2022.
Estevao wants to be the best in the world
The teenager is regarded as one of, if not the best talent in South America and has already made his debut for the Brazil national team.
Despite only being 17 Estevao has already made 38 appearances for Palmeiras, scoring 11 goals and providing eight assists as he continues to impress.
There’s a lot of excitement surrounding his arrival at Chelsea and reports have suggested the plan is for him to become part of the first team squad straight away and compete for minutes.
Estevao certainly has huge aspirations for his future in the game, which you have to admire and in a recent interview he shared what they were.
“I know my potential, I know that I can do even more and, we are slowly looking for it,” he told reporters as cited on X.com.
“I think I have the potential to be my best self. And the best thing for me, God willing, is to be at the World Cup and be the best in the world. I think that depends a lot on me.”
Estevao isn’t the only exciting South American talent arriving at Chelsea next summer with Kendry Paez also linking up with the Blues in 2025.
