Ahead of tonight’s big clash between AC Milan and Atalanta, Malick Thiaw spoke to the media and shared his thoughts on the task at hand. He made it clear that tonight’s game is crucial for the Scudetto race.

Thiaw has certainly picked himself up in recent weeks and along with Matteo Gabbia, he has been the best-performing centre-back in the team. Indeed, the Gabbia-Thiaw partnership now appears to be the favoured one, following many different tests by Paulo Fonseca.

Speaking to DAZN ahead of the game, as cited by MilanNews, Thiaw shared his thoughts on its importance and how Milan will have to approach the game. ‘Confidence’ and ‘aggression’ were two words that the German singled out.

Today we need to see a Milan like the one in Madrid or the derby…

“We have to go on the pitch with confidence and aggression, as we have done in other games. That way we can win.”

Important match to understand if you can still have a say for the Scudetto?

“Yes, in my opinion, yes. The season is still long but it is an important match for us.”

As for the rest of the starting XI, Fonseca has reverted to what you would now consider to be the usual one. The win against Sassuolo mid-week was very important for the backups, though, as they now have some individual confidence as well.
