Thiago spotted at Barcelona training ground amidst rumours of taking up coaching role under Hansi Flick

It’s been a busy few days for Thiago Alcântara. Since suddenly announcing his retirement on Sunday, rumours have begun to circulate that the 33-year-old is set to take up a coaching position at Barcelona.

These rumours are showing no signs of slowing down. As per Mundo Deportivo, Thiago was spotted at Barcelona’s training ground on Tuesday, only adding fuel to the fire that the former Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Liverpool midfielder is set to take a step into coaching.

It is still unknown what the nature of any role would be, as we are in the dark with regard to the details of the rumours which have risen in the past few days.

What we do know is the fact that Thiago will have a close relationship with Hansi Flick from their shared time at Bayern, meaning he will likely want to keep him close to his immediate coaching staff.

It is also understood that Thiago is well-regarded for his language skills, as his long stint in Germany allowed him to learn the language, possibly meaning the ex-midfielder could provide translation skills to help Flick get the most out of his squad.

All we can do for now is keep a close eye on the situation, which is likely to develop further over the coming days as Barcelona start their preparations for the new La Liga season.
