There's A New Women's Hockey Podcast In Town
Women's hockey fans living in Montreal probably already know Isabelle Ethier, but they may be referring to her as Femme d'Hockey. The name of a popular podcast which she launched in the Summer of 2020 and focuses on women in hockey. Today, she launched a new show called "La cerise sur le sundae" which translates to "The Cherry On Top". It is solely in French, but I'm sure there are plenty of bilingual PWHL fans reading this.
For this podcast, she'll be joined by former hockey player Karell Emard who played for Les Canadiennes de Montreal for four seasons before the CWHL met its demise. She then joined the PWHPA, taking part in the various showcases and played a role in the birth of the PWHL.
On Tuesday morning, the first episode of the podcast was launched and they announced this first season would comprise 10 shows. While they'll cover women's sport at large, they will also cover La Victoire de Montreal, you can expect exclusive interviews and content.
As a teaser, in today's episode Marie-Philip Poulin, Laura Stacey, Erin Ambrose and Kori Cheverie appeared answering the question what does the cherry on top mean? I've watched the first episode and it looks like a very promising show. The guest for this first episode was Katia Aubin who launched the Pivot collectif. They discussed the PWHL camps, tennis, the new lacrosse women's league and Christine Sinclair's retirement.
I especially liked the laid back atmosphere of it all, which reminds me of the hugely popular podcast La Poche Bleu, hosted by Maxim Lapierre and Guillaume Latendresse. Just like their male counterparts, the hosts toasted with a beer. Cheers to a very successful season and many more ladies!
