If there's a knock on Elias Pettersson, it's for his signature

Transcendent creativity, a terrific shot, the ability to rise to the occasion. These are all attributes that we normally reference when considering the very best players in hockey history.

However there is one, less-talked-about commonality shared by the legends of the game: an unmistakable and refined signature.

In his rookie season, Elias Pettersson is quickly checking off these boxes on his way to what should be a wire-to-wire Calder Trophy campaign. But when it comes to his souvenir scribble, it would be considered unmistakeable only for its lack of sophistication.

It looks as if Pettersson panicked and nervously included “Go Canucks” to take the attention away from the signature, but apparently Upper Deck encourages team spirit from its first-year professionals.

Fortunately for Pettersson, practice makes perfect. And he’ll have plenty of opportunities to earn reps as the face of the Canucks over the next decade plus.
