Theo Hernandez set for Genoa exclusion as Fonseca keeps promise
Milan star Theo Hernandez is likely to be dropped for his side’s home meeting with Genoa, following reports suggesting he was one of the players to whom Paulo Fonseca’s rant was addressed.
The Rossoneri coach expressed all his frustration with his men’s display against Red Star in the Champions League, telling reporters he had the ‘sensation’ that the team were not doing their ‘best’ to win the game, despite their eventual 2-1 victory.
Fonseca then added he was ready to ‘play the Primavera players of the Milan Futuro players’ if needed, and he’s expected to keep his promise in Sunday’s fixture against Genoa, with the France international among the players targeted by his decision.
Fonseca expected to drop Theo Hernandez for Genoa meeting
As reported by multiple sources, including Corriere dello Sport, the Portuguese manager lined up 21-year-old Filippo Terracciano among the starters in a recent training session ahead of the upcoming match, as he’s expected to replace Theo Hernandez as a left-back.
However, Fonseca could also reportedly consider fielding Milan Futuro players like Davide Bartesaghi or Alex Jimenez.
Milan are in talks with the former Real Madrid player to extend his contract, but even a new deal may not be enough to ensure he’ll stay at the San Siro for the coming seasons.
