Theo Hernandez agent: ‘He wants to stay and sign new Milan deal’
Theo Hernandez’s agent met with Milan today and insists they ‘did not talk about a contract renewal, but he wants to remain and sign a new deal.’
The future of the left-back was put in doubt after coach Paulo Fonseca bitterly criticised players for their attitude in the Champions League game against Crvena Zvezda midweek.
Theo Hernandez was then dropped for last night’s 0-0 Serie A draw with Genoa in favour of youth team player Alex Jimenez, confirming that he had been the main target of that tirade.
Today agent Manuel Garcia Quilon flew in for a meeting with Milan and spoke to the media as he left the club headquarters.
Theo Hernandez agent confirms desire for Milan stay
“We did not talk about a contract renewal, but about fiscal matters,” said Quilon.
“The intention is very clear, which is for him to remain and sign a new deal. We have said it many times.”
As for the decision to drop Theo Hernandez, which is not the first time that Fonseca has taken this action, the agent was diplomatic.
“These are not decisions that are down to the player. He respects his teammates and when one player is on the field, the other inevitably isn’t.
“It happened with Rafael Leao too, we must respect the decisions of the coach.”
Theo Hernandez has a contract with Milan that only runs to June 2026, so an agreement over a new deal must be reached soon or his sale will become inevitable to avoid losing him as a free agent.
The Rossoneri have reportedly proposed an increased salary to €5m per season plus bonuses, an improvement on his current €4m.
