Israeli lacrosse team buys Kenyan opponents cleats after seeing they don’t have any

We don’t want to hype this story up too much before you read it, but it’s the kind of feel-good news that has the potential to change the course of your entire day.

The 2019 Women’s Lacrosse U19 World Championships are currently taking place in Peterborough, Ont. Following pool play at the end of last week, the Kenyan and Israeli squads met in a playoff contest on Tuesday.

Israel won the game 13-4; however, that is basically irrelevant after what they decided to do for the residents of the African nation. The Israeli team saw that their Kenyan counterparts were playing at the tournament without cleats.

So, they decided to do something about it.

The entire Kenyan team received new, properly-fitted shoes to use for the rest of the competition and beyond. And as you can see by the video of them receiving their gifts, they really appreciated the kind gesture.

On top of that, it may have impacted their play on the field.

The day after getting the footwear, Kenya defeated Belgium 16-9 for their second win of the tournament.

“Field of Dreams” set to host MLB game

Thirty years after the legendary movie’s release, baseball is set for a triumphant return to the “Field of Dreams.”

According to announcements from both teams, the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox will play a regular-season game at the famed cornfield in Dyersville, Iowa, in 2020.

"As a sport that is proud of its history linking generations, Major League Baseball is excited to bring a regular-season game to the site of Field of Dreams," MLB commissioner Rob Manfred shared in a statement. "We look forward to celebrating the movie's enduring message of how baseball brings people together at this special cornfield in Iowa."

Field of Dreams is an Oscar-nominated film starring Kevin Costner as Ray Kinsella, an Iowa farmer who builds a baseball diamond in his cornfield.

Once the field is complete, Kinsella begins to interact with the ghosts of several players from the 1919 White Sox, who were notoriously banned from baseball after they were caught trying to fix the World Series.

"Field of Dreams is an iconic, generational baseball story built upon a deep love of the game that transcends even the most impossible of circumstances," White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf said in a statement. "The filmmakers tell a beautiful story that resonates to this day. It is an incredible honor for the White Sox franchise to be the home team against the Yankees in a special setting that will capture everyone's imagination just like the movie does.

MLB is reportedly planning to create a temporary ballpark in the Iowa cornfield that can seat as many as 8,000 fans. The big game, which will be the first MLB game played in the state of Iowa, is part the sport’s recent trend of bringing premier baseball to untraditional cities and ballparks.

White Sox send rookie on coffee run after pitching five innings

Put yourself in Dylan Cease’s shoes for a moment.

You’re a 23-year-old MLB rookie playing for the Chicago White Sox. With your squad set to take on the Detroit Tigers in a doubleheader at Comerica Park earlier this week, you get the nod to start the first game — only the sixth MLB start of your young career.

Following some decent outings earlier in the year, you come off the mound glowing on this particular day. After throwing 101 pitches over five innings, you’ve recorded six strikeouts and only given up two earned runs. It’s the kind of performance that you’ve dreamed of.

So, after your teammates grab the 5-3 victory — the second win of your career — what do you do?

Simple. You show the boys that you’re a team-first kinda guy and grab them a round of java before the second half of the doubleheader.

Whether the gesture was against his will or not, Cease’s caption for the photo of the event really says it all: He’s versatile.

Sure, he can go out any day and hum a boatload of pitches past a group of MLB batters to give his side a chance at a “W.” However, he’s also not afraid to go for a Starbucks run in full uniform to provide his side with the extra jolt that they may be after.

The man really will do anything for the team.

According to his teammate James McCann, the man who originally captured the moment, Cease picked up 17 orders.

Unfortunately, his efforts weren’t enough to propel his side to a victory in their second outing of the day. Even with Starbucks’ finest nectar flowing through their veins, the White Sox fell 10-6.

Nevertheless, Cease’s commitment to the cause can’t be denied.
