Texas Rangers meet President Biden at White House ceremony

The Texas Rangers went on a special road trip on Thursday.

No, not to Yankee Stadium or Camden Yards.

The Rangers visited the White House on their off day where President Joe Biden celebrated the franchise’s 2023 World Series championship.

It’s a tradition for college and professional champions to visit the White House and be greeted by the President. On Thursday, it was the Rangers’ turn. After completing a home stand, the Rangers stopped in Washington, D.C., on their way to start a road trip in New York against the Yankees.

“You’re back in the nation’s capital as world champions, and you deserve it,” Biden aid.

The President referred to the franchise, which relocated to Arlington after leaving Washington, D.C., after the 1971 season.

Biden praised the team for “never giving up” during the 2023 season when they entered the playoffs as a wild card team, then beat Tampa, Baltimore and Houston to advance to the World Series where they downed the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Rangers entered the East Room with an orchestra playing a version of the 1999 Creed hit “Higher.” The song became a theme song throughout the Rangers championship season.
