Texans WR Diontae Johnson not expected to play vs. Ravens, his former team, on Wednesday

Houston Texans wide receiver Diontae Johnson has been on quite a journey this season, but somewhere he probably won't be on Wednesday is on the field.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Johnson is unlikely to make his Texans debut on Wednesday against the Baltimore Ravens, just two days after being claimed by Houston and five days after being waived by the Ravens.

The Texans claimed Johnson on Monday to add depth to their receiver corps after Tank Dell's season-ending kneecap dislocation. Two days isn't a lot of time to get caught up on the Texans' schemes, so as Rap reported, Johnson is planning to make his Texans debut in Week 18 vs. the Tennessee Titans.

The Ravens released Johnson on Dec. 20 following three weeks of intrigue. Johnson refused to enter Baltimore's Week 13 game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Dec. 1, and head coach John Harbaugh wouldn't give a definitive answer the day after when he was asked about Johnson's DNP. On Dec. 4 the Ravens suspended him for one game, then "mutually" agreed to "excuse" him from team activities on Dec. 16. Four days later Johnson was waived by the Ravens, and the Texans grabbed him on Monday.

For the Texans, claiming Johnson was a risk-free move that can at best help replace the production of Dell and at worst be a total dud that costs them essentially nothing.
