Teuvo Teravainen May Have Had Turning Point in Season
Teuvo Teravainen had a big performance in the Chicago Blackhawks' latest win coming against the New York Islanders. He factored in on three goals in the 5-3 victory.
Teravainen hasn't exactly had the best of seasons offensively considering what he has done for the past eight seasons with the Carolina Hurricanes. The veteran has seven goals and 16 points in 31 games this season.
The Blackhawks clearly need more offense from Teravainen and others but, after scoring a goal and assisting on two other goals by Chicago in a winning effort, that could very well be a turning point.

Chicago has looked a little better since Anders Sorensen took over. There is more offensive freedom without giving up on defense. I guess we can now assume that Teravainen has benefited thus far with one goal and four points in five games since the coaching change.
It is games like Teravainen's latest just had that can be looked back on at the end of the season and identified as turning points. He said that it boosted his confidence. It was just the second time he recorded at least a point in the last seven games.
Teravainen started the season with three goals and seven points in the first five games and definitely wasn't the problem early on. But then he proceeded to go on a seven-game pointless streak and scored just one goal in the 13 games following his great start.
The Blackhawks need the Teravainen from the start of the season or the team's previous game. He has it in him considering the 30-year-old produced 123 goals and 373 points in 474 games over the last seven seasons with four 60+ point seasons mixed in there.
Teravainen is a big part of the offense and is still signed for two more years after this season. The Blackhawks have to improve by then and he has to get back to his offensive ways and play more consistently to help the team do so. The veteran isn't the only one who needs a turning point in their season soon though.
Offense is the biggest issue for Chicago and considering the scoring has been low all season, more of the players have to start producing more. Teravainen is someone who is counted on to produce, but so are Connor Bedard, Taylor Hall, Philipp Kurashev, and Tyler Bertuzzi.
Bedard may have already had his turning point when Sorensen took over as head coach, but we need more time to accurately judge that. You never know, the latest win by the Blackhawks could be a critical point in the season as well, not just for Teravainen.
