Terracciano speaks about Verona return as a Milan starter: “A great emotion”

Filippo Terracciano is playing in a peculiar position for AC Milan this evening – a midfield role alongside Youssouf Fofana – and he will be keen to show his former club how much he has grown.

Seeing Paulo Fonseca opt to use Terracciano in midfield is certainly quite a shock on the face of it. However, when we look back to when the youngster signed, there were suggestions that the Italian was signed to play as a hybrid between full-back and midfield.

Even with this knowledge though, it comes as a surprise to see the Portuguese look to the Italian over some more natural options in the set-up – such as another chance for Mattia Liberali, who played last week’s fixture as the Trequartista – a slot now being taken by Tijjani Reijnders.

Speaking ahead of the game against his former club, Terracciano was asked by Milan TV about his emotions before returning and he also took the time to speak about the importance of the game, and his words have been relayed by Milan News.

Important match to try and return to victory…

“Every match is crucial. It’s a pitch I know well. We have prepared the match well and we know what to do.”

On Verona…

“We are all aware that playing here is never easy, even in the past it was never easy. We mustn’t underestimate anything”

On the emotion of returning to Verona as a starter in an AC Milan shirt…

“It makes me happy. Coming back here is always a great emotion for me. I have a lot of friends and family watching the game today. I’ll be very happy.”
