(Israel-Palestinians)

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says last night's airstrike that killed dozens of Palestinians in Rafah was a tragic mistake.

He told parliament the military is investigating and that Israel makes utmost efforts not to harm innocent civilians.

But Israel is facing new condemnation for the attack local health officials say killed at least 45 Palestinians, including displaced people living in tents engulfed by fire.

France says it is outraged by the violence. (10)

(Ont-Jewish-School-Shooting) (Audio: 075)

Members of the Jewish community, supporters and politicians held a rally this morning at a Jewish girls' school in Toronto damaged by bullets over the weekend.

Speakers called for strength and solidarity, with one calling the shooting a deliberate attempt to spread fear across the entire Jewish community.

Toronto police say two suspects fired shots shortly before 5 a-m Saturday, and that it's too early to say for sure if the shooting was hate-motivated. (10)

(Indigo-Privatization) (Audio: 083)

Indigo shareholders have voted in favour of a deal to take the retailer private.

The improved offer of $2.50 per share comes from two companies owned by Indigo C-E-O Heather Reisman's (REES'-manz) husband Gerald Schwartz.

The deal was supported by a special committee of independent directors and by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.

Indigo expects it to close next month, and for its shares to be delisted from the Toronto Stock Exchange soon after. (10)

(Koreas-Tensions)

North Korea says its rocket carrying a spy satellite into orbit exploded in mid-air earlier today.

State media is reporting the explosion was possibly caused by engine failure.

The U-N bans North Korea from conducting any satellite launches, viewing them as covers for testing long-range missile technology. (10)

(US-Drag-Racing-Death)

A 33-year-old Michigan woman was struck and killed when a vehicle went out of control during a drag-racing event, but pushed her two-year-old daughter to safety just before she was hit.

Yesterday's crash happened at Silver Lake State Park Sand Dunes -- about 430 kilometres northwest of Detroit.

Police say the driver of a modified Jeep C-J lost control, veered off the racing strip toward the crowd and hit another vehicle, which hit Kadie Price. (10)

(NL-Double-Drunk-Driving)

Royal Newfoundland Constabulary arrested a 23-year-old man for drunk driving twice in less than three hours this morning.

Police charged a man for driving with a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit and for having open alcohol in a vehicle, and impounded his vehicle at about 1:30 a-m.

Then at 4:15, officers responding a disturbance call at a home found the same man, who had driven there in a different vehicle.

He was arrested for impaired driving a second time and also charged with criminal harassment. (10)
