Ernest Nuaham (20) had looked on the verge of completing a last-minute deal from Olympique Lyonnais to Fulham, however, the deal ultimately fell through. L’Équipe have now detailed how the deal broke down at the final stage.

It had been expected that the Ghanaian winger would join Everton, a club that OL owner John Textor is in talks to purchase. Nuamah had even agreed terms with the Toffees, according to Foot Mercato, only for Fulham to lodge a last-minute attempt to hijack the deal.

Romano reported that a deal between Fulham and Lyon had been agreed, however, Romano later added that the deal taking Nuamah to Fulham was on the verge of being called off after “new issues” arose.

The deal was then confirmed to be off. L’Équipe revealed that the player was never keen on the move, with the player’s agent telling the publication that Nuamah “loves Lyon”. Nuamah was tearful throughout deadline day, reports L’Équipewith the player opposed to a move away from the Groupama Stadium.

Whilst undergoing his medical ahead of the move to Fulham, worth €19m, Nuamah then suddenly disappeared at the final stages and couldn’t be found; not even his agent could find the Ghahaian winger. After the deal collaped, Textor later apologised for the situation in which Nuamah felt forced out of the club.
