TCU star receiver Jack Bech exits Cincinnati game with knee injury
TCU leading wide receiver Jack Bech exited the Horned Frogs 20-13 regular season finale victory against Cincinnati with a knee injury that is feared to be significant.
Bech caught three passes for 27 yards in the first quarter. It’s unclear when the injury happened, but Bech didn’t take the field in the second quarter as the Horned Frogs turned to Blake Nowell at outside receiver.
“He’s got a knee injury, I don’t know to what extent,” coach Sonny Dykes said. “Any time you have a knee injury you’re always worried about things, but we’ll just kind of see.”
One source told the Star-Telegram that injury was “bad” and it could keep Bech out of the bowl game. Bech had a breakout season with 59 receptions for 1,007 yards and nine touchdowns just one year after he had less than 146 yards in his first season in Fort Worth.
Josh Hoover said losing Bech was a gut punch emotionally and Hoover finished with a season-low 212 yards without his favorite target.
“I hate that for Jack,” Hoover said. “It’s definitely a tough deal and Jack’s one of those guys that would do anything for anybody. I hope he knows I would do the same for him. He’s truly a brother to me and a guy I love to death. I’m just praying for him and hopefully it’s not as bad as they think.:
