TCU recruiting notebook: Horned Frogs add elite cornerback added to Top 15 class

The month of June continues to be good to the TCU football program as the Horned Frogs added two more highly regarded prospects to their 2025 recruiting class.

On Friday, cornerback Micah Strickland became the fifth four-star recruit to join the class. From Brownsboro, Texas, Strickland is ranked the No. 133 overall recruit in the 247Sports composite rankings along with being the No. 15 cornerback and No. 23 prospect in the state.

Strickland is a massive pickup for the Horned Frogs as they had to beat out in-state conference rivals Baylor, Houston and Texas Tech for his commitment. He took official visits to each school including a trip to Fort Worth the weekend of June 20.

247Sports recruiting analyst Gabe Brooks had this to say about Strickland in his scouting report: “Good-sized cornerback prospect with extensive three-phase (offense, defense, special teams) high school experience. Legitimately 6-feet with a wingspan approaching 6’6. Length shows in ability to shrink catch windows and disrupt at the catch point. Possesses above average ball skills likely aided by offensive and special teams reps.”

Strickland is the second highest rated recruit in the class behind Houston-area edge rusher Chad Woodfork. A few days earlier, the Horned Frogs landed another commitment from offensive tackle Kilian Registe.

Rated the No. 43 offensive tackle and a top-70 prospect in the state of Texas, Registe stands at 6’5.5, 300 pounds and stars at Keller. Register held offers and visited Texas Tech and Houston before deciding on the Horned Frogs.

Registe is the fourth offensive linemen to join the class which now stands at 21 commitments. The Horned Frogs are currently No. 14 in the nation and still No. 1 in the Big 12 with their class.
