TCU football notebook: Horned Frogs land multiple recruits up front

Lake Travis quarterback Chaston Ditta sets to pass to TCU commitement Carter Buck (right) for a touchdown. Buck committed to TCU on January 20, 2025.

TCU football continued its hot streak on the recruiting trail with more commitments on Monday.

After landing Arlington Martin four-star defensive lineman Jesse Ford on Sunday, the Horned Frogs added two more recruits to the 2026 class.

Three-star Carter Buck was the first to announce his commitment on his social media page. Buck is an edge rusher at Lake Travis in Austin.

247Sports has him rated the No. 32 edge rusher in the class and No. 56 prospect in Texas by 247Sports. Buck had a breakout junior season with 78 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, six sacks and three hurries for the Cavaliers. Lake Travis finished 12-3 and advanced to the quarterfinals of the UIL Class 6A-Division state playoffs.

Listed at 6-foot-5, 240 pounds, Buck picked the Horned Frogs over offers from Arizona and Kansas.

The Horned Frogs added another defensive lineman later in the day with a commitment from Duncan McGhee. McGhee stars at Texas High in Texarkana and while he’s currently unranked, the 6’4, 275 pound lineman has an impressive offer list that included Baylor, SMU and Texas Tech.

McGhee had a productive junior year as he had 73 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, seven quarterback hurries and tied for a team-high with four sacks.

The Horned Frogs are clearly prioritizing restocking the defensive line with three of TCU’s five commits being front seven defenders. TCU also has Southlake Carroll wide receiver Brock Boyd committed along with long snapper Will Terry.
