Taylor House Finds A Home In Ottawa

From Joliet, Illinois, to Quinnipiac University, to the PHF and the SDHL, Taylor House has now officially signed on to her next adventure.

On Monday, it was announced that Taylor House has been signed to a Standard Player Agreement following the injury to Alexa Vasko suffered against Montreal on December 6.

“You never know when you’re going to expect that type of call,” House said. “You never want to see someone get hurt in order to get that call, but it’s a shock at first and you have to figure things out quick. Now I’m here and it’s been great to be back.”

Joining a new team with no guarantees of making the lineup on opening night isn’t easy, but House has found ways to make a difference for the club even without having a roster spot.

“I just wanted to come and bring energy on and off the ice,” said House. “The positive attitude and just trying to push everybody else to get better, in the process of doing that, you end up making yourself better when the opportunity comes.”

What makes a player such as House such an intriguing addition to the team, beyond her 5-foot-10 frame, is her consistency, both with and without the puck. House scored 78 points with Quinnipiac during her five seasons with the program, averaging 31 games per season and a +4.2 over that period of time. She plays an effective two way game and is competitive in all situations, which is a welcome sight for a team which has struggled to score speciality team goals early this season and have found themselves with inconsistent starts to games.

House’s first game will be in Boston on Tuesday, a place she’s very familiar with from her time with the Boston Pride of the PHF.

“It’s kind of like a homecoming for me. It’s exciting!”
