Tamworth 0-3 Tottenham (AET): Spurs survive huge FA Cup scare to see off part-timers

Tottenham needed extra-time to see off part-timers Tamworth as they survived a huge FA Cup scare.

Spurs came close to humiliation when their National League opponents went close to a famous winner in injury time at the end of normal time.

But Ange Postecoglou’s finally found a breakthrough in extra-time when Tamworth substitute Nathan Tshikuna scored a scrambled own goal.

Spurs substitute Dejan Kulusevski then scored a second and Brennan Johnson added a third as as Spurs limped into the fourth round.

Tamworth are 96 places below Spurs in English football pyramid but performed brilliantly and almost caused one of the biggest shocks in FA Cup history when Antonin Kinsky saved crucially from Jordan Cullinane Liburd with seconds left.

Spurs were forced to bring on Dominic Solanke from the bench and needed to call on Heung-min Son and Kulusevski at the start of extra time, as Postecoglou looked inject some life into a dismal display.

It took a huge slice of good fortune to break Tamworth's resistance as Tshikuna bundled the ball over into own net.

Spurs added two further goals and now wait to learn their fourth-round opponents, as focus shifts to Wednesday’s north London derby against Arsenal at Emirates Stadium.
