Darren Bent has claimed that Moises Caicedo isn’t better than Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch at this moment in time.

Caicedo joined Chelsea from Brighton in the summer of 2023 for a British record £115m, but initially struggled at Stamford Bridge.

He had a debut to forget against West Ham as he conceded a penalty in a 3-1 defeat, but started to find his feet over the second half of the season.

Bent claims Caicedo isn’t as good as Gravenberch right now

Caicedo has more than picked up where he finished off last season and looks like a player reborn under Enzo Maresca.

The Ecuador international is getting back to the form he was showing in his Brighton days and has put in a series of impressive performances.

He’s arguably been the best midfielder in the Premier League this season, even though Maresca stopped short of saying that himself.

The 23-year-old has been labelled as an amazing player by team-mate Romeo Lavia, whilst he dominates the league in terms of defensive stats.

Caicedo has been in superb form for Chelsea this season.

Despite Caicedo’s brilliant start to the season, Bent claims at this moment in time he’s not as good as one other Premier League player.

“I’m a big Caicedo fan,” he told talkSPORT.

“He got off to a slow start, if you’re talking about right now, he’s not better than Gravenberch. I’ll give you him over Declan [Rice] right now, but not Gravenberch he’s been incredible.”

Whilst Gravenberch has been very impressive for league leaders Liverpool, it’s widely acknowledged that Caicedo has been the best midfielder this season.

He’s done brilliantly to respond to the criticism that came his way last season and now he’s performing to a top level no one is mentioning his price tag.
