T.J. Edwards shares first impression of Bears interim HC Thomas Brown
The Chicago Bears did something they'd never done before when they fired head coach Matt Eberflus in the middle of the season following Thanksgiving meltdown against the Detroit Lions. The Bears then promoted offensive coordinator Thomas Brown to interim head coach.
Brown had just been promoted to offensive coordinator three weeks prior when Chicago fired Shane Waldron, and the results have spoken for themselves. Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams has played his best football, the offense has looked completely different and he rallied the players after what had been a rocky season. But, now, Brown is responsible for not just the offense but the rest of the team.
During an appearance on 670 the Score's "Bernstein & Harris Show," linebacker T.J. Edwards shared his thoughts on Brown after his first team meeting as interim head coach on Monday. And it sounds like Edwards is already a fan.
"He means business," Edwards said Tuesday. "What his expectations are and things like that, he wants those to be met with no ifs, ands or buts about it. I can really appreciate that, a no-nonsense guy who comes into work and wants to win no matter what it looks like."
When Brown met with reporters on Monday, he shared that his message to the team started with unity, as well as accountability not just with players but coaches, as well.
"I also talked about making the three abilities," Brown said. "That's coachability, that's accountability, that's dependability. That's all of us, myself included. I'm not above coaching. Not above accountability. So we will get that done together."
Brown will coach his first game this Sunday against an injury-riddled San Francisco 49ers squad, where the Bears will be looking to snap a six-game losing streak.
