Marc Cucurella has admitted Chelsea are disappointed after the defeat to Ipswich but urged the squad not to be downhearted.

Chelsea slipped to their second consecutive defeat with Ipswich running out 2-0 winners at Portman Road in what was a really disappointing performance, especially in the second half.

Liam Delap won and converted a penalty, with Maresca again full of praise for the striker at full time, whilst former Blue Omari Hutchinson scored the second.

Enzo Maresca made four changes to the stating line-up with Joao Felix, Axel Disasi, Christopher Nkunku and Filip Jorgensen all handed rare starts.

Felix had a goal ruled out for offside, whilst numerous efforts were saved and blocked, with it turning into one of those nights for the Blues.

It’s now just one goal in their last three games, although Maresca admitted he expected a moment like this to come in the season.

The Blues still sit fourth in the table, two points behind Nottingham Forest in second, but the gap to Newcastle in fifth is now three points.

Maresca’s men are still on course to qualify for the Champions League and speaking after the game Cucurella admitted the team were disappointed, but urged his team-mates not to be disheartened.

“It was one of those games where I think we created a lot of chances that we couldn’t take advantage of and unfortunately we conceded two easy goals, from our perspective,” he told Chelsea’s website.

“We are disappointed but we can’t be downhearted, and we must work hard for the next game. This month has been difficult because we have played a lot of games and now, we must look forward and try to get back to winning ways.

“Against Ipswich, we didn’t have the luck with us but this sometimes happens in football. It’s one of those things and I think we just need to focus on the positive aspects and keep working hard.
