Yahoo Sports Swindon Town publish official match report with no mention of their relegation
Swindon Town were relegated from League One on Saturday after a 2-1 home defeat to Scunthorpe left them five points adrift of safety with one game remaining.
But you would have been hard-pressed to find out the details of their demotion, with the match report published on the club's official website giving no mention to it.
"Town suffered a 2-1 defeat to Scunthorpe United at The County Ground earlier this afternoon", it started, before giving a chronological account of events over the 90 minutes.
The seventh paragraph admitted "the Reds knew that they needed a victory to keep alive their survival hopes" but made no reference to the fact that they failed to obtain that win, concentrating instead on such details as the "stunning goal from Rohan Ince" that was ultimately little more than a consolation.
In July 2015, Swindon banned local media outlets from attending press conferences, deciding that future interviews would be conducted by their own press officer, who would release quotes through an app.
That decision followed a ban imposed on local newspaper the Swindon Advertiser a year earlier. Swindon had been angered at the Advertiser's coverage of certain stories, in particular owner Lee Power's high court battle for ownership of the club.
The ban received criticism, with concerns over a lack of interrogation for those in charge at the club.
In Swindon's match report from the weekend defeat to Scunthorpe, there was also no mention of fans who were escorted away after trying to get close enough to the bench to let manager Luke Williams know how unhappy they were.
There was however, space to mention such inconsequential events as Luke Norris having two shots that missed the target "in quick succession" and the decision to "freshen things up with James Brophy replacing Brad Barry".
