Ruhr Nachrichten reports that Borussia Dortmund are set to fire Sven Mislintat due to the unrest he has caused in the team’s management since his return.

Since returning to the club in May last year, Mislintat has been at the centre of the internal issues within the Dortmund hierarchy. It is widely reported that he and Kehl are engaged in a power struggle for Kehl’s current job. While when he had returned to the club it was hoped he and Kehl would be able to work together.

The decision to sack Mislintat will be announced soon.

A Mislintat confidant in the Dortmund hierarchy, Matthias Sammer was also given an ultimatum over his current role as consultant at the club.

However, despite the dismissal of Mislintat, Kehl’s job as sporting director is still not secure. Despite only extending his contract earlier this season, the former midfielder is under scrutiny, most recently due to the fact that Dortmund have yet to complete any transfers in this window with only a week left, despite the obvious need for reinforcements in the squad.

Dortmund are also currently looking for Nuri Şahin’s replacement with under-19 head coach Mike Tullberg set to be in charge for their Champions League game against Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday. Niko Kovac is currently the front-runner for the vacant position.
