‘Super thick and rich and creamy!’ Reader poll names best milkshake in Whatcom County

We asked readers where to find the best milkshakes in Whatcom County, and the votes are in.

The poll had 12 local restaurant options in Whatcom County, including Mallard Ice Cream, Grants Burgers, Acme Valley Ice Cream and Edaleen Dairy.

The unscientific poll received 184 votes.

Boomers Drive-In received 52 votes, or 28% of the total, to top the list of the best milkshakes in Whatcom County.

Boomers Drive-In is known for its classic car side service, as well as its burgers, fries and hard ice cream milkshakes. Visitors can try a variety of milkshake flavors including chocolate, root beer, cherry, pineapple, strawberry, vanilla, mocha, orange and banana.

The burger joint also won The Bellingham Herald’s reader polls for the best French fries and best affordable burgers in Whatcom County.

Boomers Drive-In is also popular online, receiving a 3.5-star rating from 487 reviews on Yelp. On Google Reviews, Boomers Drive-In received a 4.4 rating from 3,706 reviews.

Boomers Drive-In is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday at 310 N Samish Way in Bellingham.

In second place was Edaleen Dairy with 34 votes.

Edaleen Dairy is headquartered in Lynden but has storefronts throughout Whatcom County where visitors can enjoy its homemade ice cream or take home some milk, whipping cream or other packaged dairy products.

Each store has a variety of ice cream and milkshake flavors including raspberry cheesecake, cookies and coffee, caramel apple crisp, passion guava, chocolate explosion, birthday cake, almond and cookie dough.

The dairy has storefronts in Bellingham, Lynden, Sumas, Ferndale and Blaine and has various operating hours. The Bellingham location can be found in Fairhaven and is open from noon to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday at 1200 10th St.

In third place was Fiamma Burger with 28 votes, and Crusin Coffee in fourth place with 23 votes.
