Sunderland agree loan deal for Roma midfielder Le Fee
Sunderland have signed French midfielder Enzo Le Fee from Italian giants Roma on loan until the end of the season.
The 24-year-old moved to the Stadio Olimpico in the summer from Rennes for a fee reportedly worth up to 23m Euros.
Le Fee came through French club Lorient's youth academy where he played under current Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris.
"I'm very happy to be here and I'm excited to meet the people. There are some familiar faces with Wilson Isidor, Adil Aouchiche and Salis Abdul Samed," Le Fee told the club website.
The Championship side have the option to buy the former France Under-21 player, who was a member of his country's squad at the delayed 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
He has played just six times in Serie A for Roma this season as well as making four further appearances in the Uefa Europa League.
"The opportunity to acquire a midfielder of this profile, who already understands how our coach works, is a unique combination we had to pursue," said Sunderland sporting director Kristjaan Speakman
Le Fee is Sunderland's first signing during the winter transfer window as the Black Cats challenge for automatic promotion.
