Yahoo Sports Sunday’s Chiefs-Chargers Game Scores a 10-Year Viewership High for CBS
Here’s another superlative stat for Travis Kelce’s “You Belong With TE” scorecard.
CBS’ Sunday-afternoon national broadcast of the Kansas City Chiefs’ 31-17 win over the Los Angeles Chargers averaged 24.4 million total viewers, making it the week’s most-watched program on any network.

That boffo turnout also represents CBS’ most-watched Week 7 game window in 10 years.
CBS Sports on Sunday also delivered its most-watched Week 7 regional game since 1998, as the Bills-Patriots matchup drew 15.7 million viewers.
All told, the NFL on CBS recorded its best Week 7 audience since 1998, with an average of 19.7 million viewers for Sunday’s doubleheader.
Of note, and as seen above, CBS Sports got creative with their coverage of the Chiefs-Chargers game. After Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce scored a touchdown, putting the Chiefs up 24 to 17, a CBS graphic compared his statistics “with Taylor Swift in attendance” versus when he’s been “left to his own devices.” (Swift was on hand for her fourth Chiefs game since word began swirling of her off-the-field romance with Kelce.)
As you can see, Kelce’s 2023 performance indeed excels with the pop star in the stands, logging 99 receiving yards per game. Last year, Kelce led the league in that category, averaging 78.7 yards per game.
