Sudbury Wolves Acquire Speedy, Skilled Slovak Winger From Erie

The Sudbury Wolves lost their star import Slovak center from last season, Dalibor Dvorsky, as he has moved on to the AHL, but they just recouped another Slovak forward from the Erie Otters.

The Wolves organization announced on Friday that it had acquired Ondrej Molnar from the Otters in exchange for a conditional 2026 third-round pick (NIA) and a conditional 2027 third-round pick (NB).

“Ondrej is a player we have been very high since his draft year,” said Sudbury Wolves VP & GM Rob Papineau. “He is an outstanding skater and is an offensive threat with a nose for the net. We are very excited to add him to our team”

Molnar, 19, was selected fifth overall by Erie in the 2022 CHL Import Draft. He enters his third year in the OHL and is coming off a career year with 19 goals and 52 points in 66 games last season.

Despite losing David Goyette, Dalibor Dvorsky, Landon McCallum, and Quentin Musty for the first 12 games of the season — due to him holding out to be traded — and trading away core players Evan Konyen, Matthew Mania, and Nolan Collins, the Sudbury Wolves have remained competitive, boasting a record of 8-6-1-0.

Sudbury owes much of its success to their two netminders, Finn Marshall and Nate Krawchuk, who have each shown strong performances this season at different times.

Molnar resumes his OHL career with Sudbury where he has scored twice in his first three games with his new team. He has been situated on the Wolves' top line alongside Musty and overage forward Kocha Delic.
