Yahoo Sports Sudbury Deadline Acquisition Henry Mews Shines In First Start With New Team
When Michael Jordan came out of retirement, he briefly wore the number 45 before returning to his iconic number 23. Nick Anderson prompted the switch by taunting Jordan with the remark, " Number 45 is not number 23."
In the case of Henry Mews, it's safe to say that number 88 is just as lethal as number 11.
The Ottawa 67's traded the Calgary Flames' prospect to Sudbury in exchange for Nolan Jackson and eight draft picks.

Mere hours after the trade announcement, Mews put on his new jersey and played for Sudbury against the Niagara IceDogs. The elite defensemen made his presence felt throughout the game.
He picked up an assist on the opening goal of the game after carrying the puck into the zone and handing it off to Alex Pharand who fired the puck on goal. Kocha Delic ended up potting the rebound to extend his goal-scoring streak.
In the second period, the 2006-born defender tied the game at two scoring his first goal as a member of the Wolves. Just like that he had a pair of points in his debut with Sudbury.
His third point was a shot from the line that bounced into the back of the net after deflecting off of Chase Coughlan. The late third-period goal tied the game at four. That made him a participant in three of the four goals Sudbury scored in the game.
Mews' impressive debut showed exactly why Sudbury targeted him at the deadline. He showcased the offensive vision and instincts that make him an elite offensive defenseman in the OHL.
The performance also set him solidly above Luca Marrelli as the top-scoring defender in the league. He now has 53 points in 39 games.

The Wolves currently sit fifth in the Eastern Conference, just two points back of the Kingston Frontenacs who they play this afternoon.
With the imminent return of Quentin Musty, this Wolves team is dangerous offensively and could easily climb up the standings before the end of the season. Certainly, their powerplay which could now include Musty, Mews, Nathan Villeneuve and Kieron Walton will be one of the most star-studded units in the league.
