Study oddly claims Chiefs fans suffer from postseason blues more than most teams

If this study had been released, say, seven years ago, then yeah, it’d make sense.

But in 2024? These findings frankly seem odd.

Casino.ca analyzed data that it says indicates which NFL fanbases have the highest postseason blues. At No. 2 is the Chiefs, who have won two straight Super Bowl titles and three in the past five seasons.

Strange, right?

Here is the methodology for this study. Casino.ca surveyed 3,000 NFL fans “on their feelings toward the postseason.” There were four questions and each was given a weight:

  • On a scale of 0-10, how sad do you feel when the NFL season ends (40%)

  • Do you count down the weeks and days until the next season starts (25%)

  • Does the offseason affect your social life, making you less social (20%)

  • How would you best describe the excitement and happiness you feel for NFL season kick-off (15%)

Dallas Cowboys fans were found to have the most postseason blues (no surprise there), followed by the Chiefs, Eagles and Bills.

These were two of the key findings.

  • 1 in 3 Chiefs fans count down the days until the next season starts

  • 1 in 4 fans say the offseason affects their social life, making them less social

You can see the flaw in those findings, right? Of course, Chiefs fans count down the days until the start of the season because they are the best team in the NFL. And football fans often gather to watch games, which makes them more social during the season.

Then there’s this: fans of the Tennessee Titans have the lowest postseason blues, that study found, just ahead of the Jets and Commanders.

And finally, and this is the most unusual aspect of these results: Casino.org did a study that found Chiefs have the least miserable fanbase in the NFL. Most fans would agree that study sounds more legit.

Well ... guess what is part of Casino.org? Yep, Casino.ca, which did the study that found Chiefs fans have a bad case of postseason blues.

All in all, it’s just weird. Or maybe having the blues means something different in Canada.
