Cesare Casadei still hasn’t finalised his exit from Chelsea, with Lazio yet to reach a full agreement on salary with the midfielder according to Fabrizio Romano.

The January transfer window is now into the final few days, with Chelsea not as busy as expected this month, although this is generally the period where things start to pick up.

The Blues are yet to sell anyone, with the only departure of note Renato Veiga’s loan move to Juventus, whilst they’ve agreed a €15m deal with Strasbourg for Mamadou Sarr, who will arrive in the summer.

Lazio and Casadei yet to reach full agreement on salary

Chelsea have got a number of players they still need to move on before Monday’s deadline day and they are still searching for solutions for the likes of Ben Chilwell, Carney Chukwuemeka and Axel Disasi.

Another player expected to leave is Casadei, and it feels like Chelsea have been trying to finalise his exit since the window opened, with the Blues insistent on a 40% sell on clause.

There’s been interest from both Lazio and Torino, whilst Torino officials flew to London to try and close a deal for the 21-year-old, but that wasn’t successful.

Romano has now provided an update on Casadei’s departure and has reported Lazio don’t have a full agreement with the player of salary.

He took to X.com and said:

“Lazio have still no full agreement on Cesare Casadei’s salary as of now while talks continue. More clubs also called Chelsea.”

Casadei arrived at Chelsea from Inter Milan in the summer of 2022 from Inter Milan for an initial £12.6m and has spent time on loan at both Reading and Leicester.

The Italy under-21 international has struggled to make an impression on the first team and has made just 17 appearances during during his time at Stamford Bridge to date.

The fact it’s taken Chelsea best part of a month and they still haven’t finalised his exit isn’t a good look for the club, but it does seem an agreement is close and his exit will be finalised before deadline day.
