'Stick To Playing A Piano': Maple Leafs React To Joseph Woll And Mitch Marner's On-Stage Performance With Kygo
As Joseph Woll and Mitch Marner prepared for practice in Toronto on Friday, they, and the entire Toronto Maple Leafs team, watched the duo's performance from the night before.
The music artist Kygo performed inside Scotiabank Arena on Thursday and midway through the concert brought Woll and Marner on stage to sing one of the DJ's biggest hits, 'Stargazing'.
🎶 And I will still be here, stargazing 🎶

After practice on Friday, Woll revealed how he and Marner sang on stage with the Norwegian music producer.
The 26-year-old gifted Kygo one of his old goalie masks, which features drawings from the artist's live performance at The Troll’s Tongue, a mountain lookout in Norway.
"We made a Kygo helmet to give him. It was pretty sweet. I was really happy to meet him," Woll said on Friday.
The goaltender said that when he gifted Kygo the goalie helmet, the artist's manager, Myles Shear, asked if Woll wanted to go on stage and sing 'Stargazing'.
"I warned him, 'I'm not much of a singer. I can maybe play the piano or something,'" Woll laughed.
"But singing was the only option, so I went up. We got Mitch to come up too, so I think it would've been a lot more nerve-wracking if it was just me up there. Mitch maybe helped me out a bit."
As an NHL goaltender, Woll is used to high-pressure situations. However, there's something different about being one of 19 players on the ice for a team versus being one of the lone performers on a stage singing.
What was it like stepping on stage with a massive crowd inside Scotiabank Arena?
"It was actually fine. The most nerve-wracking thing was right when they asked me, I was like, 'I hope I know the words.' So I made sure I knew the words and it wasn't bad," he said with a smile.
"It was good. I had Mitch up there with me, so it took some of the nerves away. We didn't know we were going to be up there for the whole song, so that was maybe the most nerve-wracking thing. It was pretty fun."
What did some of their teammates think of the pair going on stage?
"A couple laughs and probably to work on the vocal chords a little bit," Bobby McMann joked before he was asked if he would go on stage if a musician asked him to.
"Yeah. I think that's a pretty cool honor to get out there. I think I would try to get up there. The heart would be racing a little bit, wouldn't really have the vocal chords either. So I can't really chirp too much, but yeah it'd be cool."
Joseph Woll said he didn't know he and Mitch Marner would be on stage with Kygo for an entire song last night.

McMann added that, if he had to pick his dream duet, it'd be with the 'King of Pop', Michael Jackson.
"I think the Michael Jackson concerts back in the day were so cool. I think that would be somebody that, if I could go back, that'd be a concert that I would definitely go to."
Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube said the coaching staff showed the team Woll and Marner's performance from Thursday. His message to Woll: "Stick to playing a piano," the coach said with a smile.
Earlier this week, Reaves joked about Woll's maintenance days while the team was "grinding." When asked about the goaltender's musical performance on Friday, Reaves laughed, "I'm going to leave him alone today, I think."
Though he added there's been a lot of chirping. Most of it from me, to be honest," the 38-year-old smiled.
In the end, Reaves didn't leave Woll alone, like he joked he would.
"I was surprised in the rhythm that came out of him there. But he's great at the piano," Reaves said. "I know he DJs a little bit, he makes music on the side. Hopefully he just doesn't get caught dancing to his music anymore."
Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews joked that he could only watch it once. He added that Marner's a big karaoke guy, so it wasn't surprising to see him on stage.
"Yeah, he's a good karaoke guy. I don't know about Woller and how experienced he is in the karaoke department. But, Mitchy can sing pretty good. He can dance pretty good," Matthews said.
"I could never do it, so you gotta give them props for going out there."

Woll emphasized on Friday how cool it was to meet Kygo the night before. The goaltender, who we now know dabbles in DJing along with his piano work, said he enjoys Kygo's melodies.
"I love him. I think what makes him special is — I was explaining it yesterday — when I listen to his music, there's certain music I listen to the words, and there's certain music I just listen to the sounds and the melodies," he said.
"And Kygo's one that I really listen and I love his melodies and I think it's unbelievable how creative he is and how much emotion he can write into his melodies. And that's something that's not easy and I look up to him a ton in terms of music, so it was really amazing to meet him."
