Who Is Steve Sarkisian's Wife Loreal Smith? All About the ‘First Lady of Texas Longhorn Football’

Steve Sarkisian and his wife, Loreal Sarkisian, have both found successful careers in football.

While the University of Texas at Austin head coach has led his team to the semifinals of the college playoffs, where they will face Ohio State University on Jan. 10, Loreal has made a business out of her gameday outfits.

The pair got married in 2020 before announcing they were splitting in the summer of 2024. However, Steve and Loreal appear to have reconciled, and the stylist has shown up in support of the coach throughout the 2024 football season. Steve was previously married to his ex-wife, Stephanie, before the two divorced in 2016.

“I get to see him all day, every day, authentic self, involved in his craft and he is not only a student of his craft but, a master," Loreal told WFAA ahead of the playoff game. "It matters to him. I respect it and I appreciate that, knowing how hard he works at it day in and day out and what it actually means to him and especially the journey he’s been on to this day personally and professionally.”

She was an athlete growing up

Loreal was raised in Tallahassee, Fla., and, in a January 2025 interview with WFAA, described herself as a tomboy growing up.

Loreal played softball and ran track throughout her childhood, but was also always passionate about fashion.

“I’ve always been a part of the sports world,” she said. “I know people probably only see me as a fashionista and in the fashion industry but, for forever I was an athlete.”

Loreal is a fashion stylist — and known for her gameday fits

Known as "The First Lady of Texas Longhorn Football," Loreal has caught fans' attention for her stylish gameday looks. But she had a long career in fashion before she started going to UT Austin games, she told WFAA.

"I was like, dang, I’ve been doing this for a long time but okay great," she said. "I’m glad y’all like it!”

Loreal is a personal stylist, putting together fashionable looks for a number of clients from celebrities to CEOs.

“[I] grew up in an environment of love and support and giving back and nurturing and fostering relationships, building confidence," she told WFAA. "That’s why personal styling speaks to me more. It’s not just a job. I’m learning everything about you to make sure you look good but also feel good.”

Steve and Loreal got married in 2020

While it is unclear how the two met, both worked at the University of Southern California, where Steve was the head football coach from 2013 to 2015. Meanwhile, Loreal was an assistant coach for the track and field team.

Loreal and Steve tied the knot on June 29, 2020. At the time, the coach was the offensive coordinator at the University of Alabama.

On their second anniversary in 2022, Loreal penned a sweet tribute to Steve, writing, "Happy Anniversary Honey 🤍 If I did anything in my life right, it was when I gave my heart to you! Praying for many more years of love, peace, and happiness! I love you so much 😘."

She is a stepmom to Steve's three kids

Steve welcomed three kids in his previous relationship: daughters Taylor and Ashley and son Brady.

Steve's only son followed in his footsteps and plays college football — for none other than his own dad. Brady joined UT Austin's football team in 2023, though he didn't see any playing time that year, per his player bio.

They split in 2024 but seemingly reconciled

In July 2024, Loreal and Steve announced on Instagram that they had split and were filing for divorce, per Sports Illustrated. In their statement, they wrote that they needed space to focus on their individual careers.

"After many heartfelt conversations, we have decided to amicably part ways and jointly file for divorce," the statement read. "We aim to remain the best of friends and are incredibly grateful for the love and support we have shared throughout our journey together."

It continued, "Our commitments to our respective careers made it difficult to prioritize time for each other and this step will provide us with the necessary time and space professionally while continuing to support each other personally."

However, it appeared the two reconciled as Loreal began posting with Steve again in December 2024 and showing up in support of him on gamedays.

She helped spruce up Steve's wardrobe

Though Loreal mainly focuses on dressing herself and her clients, she's also spruced up Steve's wardrobes in the years they've been together. Though, she admitted, he already had decent taste to start off with.

“His style has evolved. I’m happy for him," the stylist told WFAA. "Sometimes he’s done it for himself with a teeny bit of help. I try not to take too much credit because can dress."

She continued, "He has some style. He has some taste. I mean, obviously, he got my attention.”
