Steve Bernier scores 140-foot goal with his body in AHL (Video)
The Bridgeport Sound Tigers defeated the Hartford Wolf Pack on Wednesday night, 4-2. Like many victories in the AHL, theirs involved an empty-net goal that clinched things late in the third period.
Unlike many victories … well, in any league … theirs involved an empty-net goal scored after one of their players blocked a shot, 140 feet away on the other end of the ice, and the puck rolled into the cage.

That’s Steve Bernier, NHL journeyman currently playing for the New York Islanders’ AHL affiliate, blocking a shot from Hartford defenseman Ryan Graves and having the puck slide all the way down into his opponents’ open net.
We haven’t seen something that ugly involving a Wolf Pack since “The Hangover III” …
It was Bernier’s sixth of the season and second of the game.
What a wacky play. Hopefully someone shows this highlight to John Tortorella, as we imagine a goal scored off a blocked shot in the defensive zone might qualify as pornography for him.
