Stephen A. Smith calls the Dallas Cowboys an ‘atrocity’ following week 2 loss to Saints
Stephen A. Smith was very critical of the Dallas Cowboys on “First Take,” following their 44-19 loss to the New Orleans Saints, calling the Cowboys’ performance atrocious.
Smith pointed out that it was the first time a team had allowed 44-plus points in consecutive home games since the 1968 Pittsburgh Steelers.
Smith also criticized the Cowboys for their performance in front of their home fans especially following last year’s playoff loss at home to the Green Bay Packers.

“You go to AT&T Stadium and you’re subjected to that atrocity, that is what we need to be talking about today. The Dallas Cowboys don’t have a good defense. We thought they did watching them against Cleveland, then you bring ‘em a running game, ok, and all of sudden they don’t know what to do. You know why? Because they’re fast and they’re skilled but in the game of football that’s not enough when you’re soft.” said Smith.
Pro Football Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe pushed back on Smith’s criticism saying he wasn’t sure if the defense was soft but said they were built to play with a lead.
The Cowboys will face another of the NFL’s best-rushing teams this week when they play the Baltimore Ravens at 3:25 on Sunday at AT&T Stadium.
