Steph Curry ejected for throwing mouthpiece; Warriors down Grizzlies on Jordan Poole's layup
Stephen Curry didn't see the end of the Golden State Warriors' 122-120 win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday, as the All-Star guard was ejected with 1:14 left in the fourth quarter at Chase Center.
Curry threw his mouthguard after being upset with teammate Jordan Poole for not passing him the ball and rushing a 3-point shot after an offensive rebound. The mouthguard went into the crowd and the referee nearby quickly issued a technical foul and tossed Curry out of the game.
This was Curry's second career ejection in the regular season. He was also ejected in a playoff game, also for throwing his mouthpiece in frustration.

“He knows he can’t make that mistake,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said.

Poole told ESPN that although he didn't see what happened, he disagreed with the ejection because Curry is one of the greatest players of all time.
"No reason he should be thrown out in the last three minutes of the game. He's one of the greatest players of all time."

“To win the game after the Steph ejection was great. I liked the execution down the stretch," Kerr said.
Afterward, Curry was in the hallway eager to greet Poole with a celebratory hug. Poole had launched a 30-footer with nearly a full shot clock and Curry open, and Curry didn’t like it.

Curry said the way the season has gone there’s a “heightened sense of urgency of how every detail matters.”
"I reacted in a way that obviously put myself out of the game, put the team in a tough place. But the intentions and the energy around what matters in the sense of winning, that's what it's about," Curry said.
“Thankfully we all responded, or my teammates responded, extremely well... We needed that one."

The Warriors rallied from a 10-point fourth quarter deficit as the Grizzlies are on their first four-game losing streak since Feb. 2-8 2021.
