Steffen Baumgart to stay on as Hamburg head coach
kicker reports that Hamburg head coach Steffen Baumgart will stay on at the club despite HSV recent poor form in the 2.Bundesliga.
At the weekend, Hamburg lost to 15th-placed Eintracht Braunschweig 3-1 leaving them fifth in the second division and in hindsight missing the opportunity to jump into the top three.
HSV held an analysis of the situation on Saturday morning and came to the conclusion that head coach Baumgart is not the issue at the moment. The reason for the loss in Lower Saxony on Friday evening was said to be down to individual errors from the players and not coaching mistakes.
The main leading group of players are said to be the ones under fire. Daniel Heuer Fernandes, Sebastian Schonlau, Miro Muheim, Ludovit Reis, Jonas Meffert and Robert Glatzel have been at the heart of Hamburg’s recent failed promotion attempts and are now receiving scrutiny, especially Meffert and Schonlau who have been underperforming in recent weeks.
